Transitioning from Student to Practitioner
(A Non-CE Event)


Short Abstract:

This session will walk new graduates and students through the pragmatic, practice, and personal aspects of transitioning to an OTP. Emphasis on the importance of OT’s foundation and care for oneself as a practitioner to prevent burnout.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Define what burnout is.
  2. Paraphrase the perceived barriers to occupation-based practice.
  3. Select 2 strategies to utilize to prevent burnout.
  4. Compare/contrast documentation across various settings.
  5. Justify the importance of mental/emotional health strategies as a new OTP.
  6. Develop a list of qualities to consider in my job search as a new OTP.
